Products Overview
In January 2018, Longhorn developed learning materials in line with the new Competency-Based Curriculum where a significant number of her titles were approved by Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development. In addition, the Company was awarded three setbooks to be used in all secondary schools in Kenya in teaching Literature and Fasihi for the next four years. These are: Tumbo Lisiloshiba, Blossoms of the Savannah and Inheritance. The Company’s leadership in developing creative works was rewarded by winning the prestigious Burt Award for the book, A Boy Named Koko. The company also won the coveted Jomo Kenyatta Prize for literature through the title, The Elephant Dance.
ECDE Books
ECDE books consist of curriculum based, fun filled activities with colourful illustrations to attract and hold the child’s attention. Longhorn’s ECDE materials include CBC textbooks and Little Bird Series that cater for children in Play Group, PP1 and PP2 levels. The Company also has Charts and Readers for learners in this category.
Longhorn CBC Activity Books for Lower Primary
Longhorn CBC Activity Books for lower Primary are based on the new competency-based curriculum which promotes the acquisition of core competencies, relevant skills, positive attitudes and values by learners. The books also promote practical application of the knowledge gained in class. The Company also has a variety of approved readers that teach various skills for the young learners.
Longhorn has approved books for Upper Primary in course books, revision, creatives and reference which have been developed to help both the pupil and the teacher to better cover the primary school syllabus. The books contain accurate and up-to-date content. Longhorn has approved books for Secondary and Tertiary segments both in line with the syllabus.
Longhorn Secondary Course Books
Longhorn Secondary course books and revision materials have been developed to help both the student and the teacher to better cover the Secondary school syllabus. The books contain accurate and up-to-date content in a language that is easy to understand and for the learners to comprehend the subject matter easily at the irrespective school levels.
Longhorn Tertiary books
Longhorn Tertiary books have been developed in line with the TVET curriculum. They offer practical examples that can easily be applied in the work environment. These books have been authored by experts in the specific fields of study. Some of the key products in this area include Communication Skills, Entrepreneurial Skills, ICT Skills, Life Skills, Essential of English Grammar, Mtalaa wa Isimu among others. Longhorn has approved books for Tertiary segments both in line with the syllabus.
Longhorn Reference Books
Longhorn reference books are developed to help both learners and teachers to better understand the subject by providing them with the correct reference information. Key products include Kamusi ya Karne 21, Kamusi Kuu , The Comprehensive Primary School Atlas, School Bibles and the Cambridge Dictionary.

Longhorn creative books have been authored by popular award-winning authors. The themes of the books are both current and well researched to give the reader an enjoyable literary journey.
